Bray/McCannalok

The Bray/McCannalok series offers rugged reliability in a proven design. Large diameter Bray resilient seated butterfly valves have the same beneficial design features as the smaller diameter valves.

 

The internal disc-stem drive connection eliminates exposed retaining hardware and the seat completely isolates the valve body & stem from the line media. This dry body and stem (shaft) design is important for preventing internal corrosion and is particularly beneficial for power plants that use seawater for the circulating water service.

One of the primary concerns of the industry is safety, and rightfully so, especially in a nuclear plant. The industry needs reliable, proven valves that limit or extinguish the potential for hazardous situations. Bray valves are designed for just that.

Bray double and triple offset valves present tremendous cost savings over other types. They offer considerable space savings, usually by a third or more. Being smaller, they are much lighter, up to ten percent. Space and weight savings are oftentimes critical and Bray valves have the clear advantage. The Bray/McCannalok high performance butterfly valve's innovative design offers rugged reliability and extremely easy maintenance in the field.

The strength of Bray valves

Zero Leakage

Part of the strength of Bray valves is that they offer both resilient seated and metal seated designs that provide zero leakage. Both McCannalok double offset and Tri Lok triple offset butterfly valves are factory tested with both high pressure (at 1.1 times rating) water and low pressure gas for bi-directional zero leakage shutoff. Bray Flow-Tek M4 severe service ball valves with all-metal seats are tested to zero leakage for turbine water induction prevention, superheater drains, inlet/outlet drains, high point boiler vents, boiler blowdown isolation, main steam stop valves, and other critical services. All stem designs incorporate a blow-out proof feature.

The Series 98 actuators were designed primarily for pneumatic operation to a maximum pressure of 150 psi (10.3 Bar) and for temperature ranges of -50°F (-46°C) to 300°F (+149°C).

To meet ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code requirements, Bray valves comply with ASME B16.34 and have been assessed and certified by multiple global certification authorities such as Lloyd’s, DNV, and UL.
For prevention of water damage to steam turbines used in fossil-fuel-fired electrical power generation, ASME’s TDP-1 is considered in the design of critical severe service ball valves.
